Reiki - (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force.  The word "Rei" refers to the Universal or Spiritual Consciousness.  The word "Ki" means Life Force - the nonphysical energy that makes us alive.

Reiki is not a religion and is not associated with any religion.  The principles and practice are far older than religious philosophy.  Practitioners of Reiki are simply instruments which have been tuned to allow energy to flow through them and into another where it is used for their highest purpose & greatest good.  Working directly with this life force energy to surround problems or situations in one's life brings movement, change, enlightenment and direction.  Practitioners may vary slightly in philosophy and technique, however, Reiki is commonly used to assist people in achieving spiritual focus and clarity while addressing emotional or mental distress as well as acute or chronic physical problems.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner uses a series of gentle hand placements which are each held for several minutes.  Sometimes massage and Reiki are blended together by the practitioner.  These sessions are deeply relaxing, nurturing, and may be healing on all levels... mental, emotional, spiritual, energetic, as well as physical.
