Reiki - (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force.
"Rei" means Universal. "Ki" means Life Force - the nonphysical energy that makes each of us alive and the nonphysical energy that leaves our physical bodies when we pass from this life into the next.
Reiki is not a religion and is not associated with any religion, yet it compliments any religion. The principles and practice are far older than religious philosophy and exist, in some form, in all cultures, across time.
Practitioners of Reiki are simply conduits through which this life force energy flows to another where it may be used for the highest purpose and greatest good of all. With pure intent, Reiki energy surrounds situations in one's life and brings movement, change, enlightenment and direction, as well as a peaceful acceptance of what is.
Practitioners may vary in philosophy and/or technique, however, Reiki is universally used to assist people in achieving spiritual focus and clarity while addressing emotional or mental distress as well as acute or chronic physical problems.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner uses a series of gentle hand placements which are each held for several minutes. Sometimes massage and Reiki are blended together. These sessions are deeply relaxing, nurturing, and may be healing on all levels... mental, emotional, spiritual, energetic, as well as physical.
